History
of Monte Jade
Named after Monte Jade,
the highest mountain in Taiwan, the Monte Jade Science & Technology
Association was established by a group of high-tech Chinese-American
executives in Silicon Valley in 1989. The initial driving force was to
bring together the high-tech experts from the U.S. and the other side of
Pacific. Monte Jade was chosen to signify cross-cultural and technological
foresight and excellence of the highest level. Monte Jade, incorporated as
a non-profit organization in the State of California, held its opening
ceremony in San Jose, California, on February 4, 1990.
Monte Jade Taiwan
Chapter
Monte Jade has enjoyed
popular support since its inception in 1989. The organizational structure
has grown rapidly over the years. To date, there are 15 Monte Jade chapters
in the world.
The first Asian Chapter is
patterned after 11 successful Monte Jade Association chapters in the U.S.
and Canada. These chapters have already achieved tremendous records
including involvement in about 300 high tech companies which employ
approximately 30,000 highly skilled researchers and generate some $4 billion
in revenues. Following the proven formula of these North American chapters,
Monte Jade Taiwan, incorporated as a non-profit organization in Taipei, held
its opening ceremony on May 23, 2001.
